What do I do?

Classroom Guidance

All students at Peaster Elementary receive regular classroom guidance lessons. These lessons are developmentally appropriate for each grade level, and are focused on personal and academic development.

Small Group Counseling

Small group counseling is available for all students  as needed.  Some topics covered in small groups: social skills, anger, divorce, behavior control and grief.

Individual Counseling

I often work with students individually for a number of problems  that a student might present, such as friendship issues, behavior issues, conflict resolution, anger management ,

just to name a few. Referrals for students to talk to the counselor can be made by classroom teachers, by parents , or by the students themselves.

The child must know that he is a miracle, that since the beginning of the world there hasn't been, and until the end of the world, there will not be, another child like him.” ~Pablo Casals

If I had my child to raise all over again,
I'd build self-esteem first, and the house later.
I'd finger-paint more, and point the finger less.
I would do less correcting and more connecting.
I'd take my eyes off my watch, and watch with my eyes.
I'd take more hikes and fly more kites.
I'd stop playing serious, and seriously play.
I would run through more fields and gaze at more stars.
I'd do more hugging and less tugging.

~Diane Loomans, from "If I Had My Child To Raise Over Again"
